Warm homely atmosphere, good homemade dishes, welcoming staff and plenty of parking; all at a fair price.

food-review-the-abercrave-inn_01.jpegKnown to many bikers, the Abercave Inn, sits peacefully and remotely at the entrance of the Brecon Beacons. We have stayed here on various occasions now and have found it to be the perfect, affordable, place to enjoy weeks on end in this beautiful part of South Wales.

Not only are the B&B rooms spacious, allowing two bikers to disperse all their gear around the room comfortably, but they also have wardrobes with shelving inside, perfect for perching helmets on and hanging, mostly wet, jackets. Added biker friendly extras like these are much appreciated. The rooms are very clean and host all the necessary utilities you could possibly need for a night’s stay, from large towels, toiletries, coffee and biscuits, to a very strong and stable Wi-Fi signal, something we consider essential when staying in the middle of Wales.

food-review-the-abercrave-inn_02.pngCross the road, and you have the option to dine at the Abercave Inn Restaurant – we have chosen to do so every time we have gone as it is not only incredibly convenient, but also tasty! As you push the door open, you instantly feel at home. The restaurant welcomes you into the lounge with beams and a warm fire, where you are kindly guided to your table. Often packed, we highly suggest you reserve a table on Friday’s and weekends. Staff are polite, approachable and attentive; particularly the manager who over the course of a weekend got to know us rather well. All the dishes are homemade, with daily specials written on the board and, although not of fine dining standards, have that feel-good feeling to them, filling you up with the large portions. This is also where hearty breakfasts are served in the morning. Personally, what I like, is that you feel at home and relaxed in the surroundings.

We find this quaint B&B to have a particular charm to it. It’s large parking is safe, with ample space to manoeuvre around, the rooms are cosy and the restaurant is charismatic. Priced very reasonably, we highly recommend this beacon of tranquillity.
